I spent the last week teaching a sixty year old man with a new heart transplant how to kiteboard this week.we did two sessions a day and he wore me out. Heres a bit if footy from the sessions in between. i miss my dog….

I wake up looking at a full day of lessons, the last thing i want to hear is the sound of swell detonating on the beach. Its overhead, sideoff and im doublebooked. I head to the club med restaurant and grab a coffee and pastry. The left is firing off and its useless to ignore it as it tempts me from the view across the pool, not even remotely noticing the two women laying out topless in the early morning sun. Im looking past them daydreaming about parking my kite and pulling in into the outer peak when my coffee overflows. Im sitting in front of the club waiting for my ten o’clock, im thinking of other things to keep myself from going crazy, fixing my boat, the cute blond staying at the hotel next door, more pastrys. Its now 10:15 and im givng it five more minutes before i will start running back to my room.

Im on the beach and there just isnt any wind here, but i see the spray coming off the reef a mile and a half out. The wind shadow from the numerous hotels makes the wind a mess of rotors and holes for the first half mile so i loop my kite to keep it moving hoping my read of the conditions is correct. I hit the wind line and begin the ten minute commute to the reef.

Pure bliss and its as good as it gets, overhead and reeling. Its a bit milky today and its very hard to see the reef so i look for the boils placing turns and riding high in the whitewash into the channel.

My after noon lesson goes well on the other side of the island where i find all the other kiters playing in the flat chop spot.

Smiling as i pull out of the parking lot and head back home in time to take a friend for her bodydrags then head back out to the reef which hasnt stopped going off all day. ITs A bit smaller but the higher tide has made the reef less of an issue so i pay a bit more attention to my turns and the sunset.

Slogging my way back to shore i end up a bit downwind . As im winding up a local fisherman comes up and reminds me of just how many big boys are swimming around out there. I only hear something about ice cream.

im getting old, forty now and just cant cut the cold water of winter so-cal . not to mention all the kooks. So i have relocated/ retired to a club med somewhere in the turks and caicos islands. Todays session took place way too far offshore at the reef outside the resort just after taking a guest for a body drag through the swim zone.

” Im almost completely naked now”, ” can we do it again”?” uh…. huh… sure.”.. i thought nipples were the icing on the cake ,but finding her digits tucked into my kite bag after this sesh is a just a bit too much.

I did my research before coming here, this is this islands only topless beach and figured that would make my lessons that much more bearable. Im on the clock on this video, working hard. im pretty sure we booked tomorrows lessons just because i pulled into that last little shorebreak on my skim.

“Im not so sure i really understand your schedule” my new boss says to me.

After a three hour lesson, nothing feels better than a little session.

Just after they hand you the cash of course.

i prefer to lump my whole day together as “work” that way i can can make a dollar for every transition or snap. Thats a lot better for my ego than i made that cash clenching onto a mans buttox as he dragged us through the sand and surf.

“Boy, those guys have a great relationship” ,”they certainly have thier own style” ” why dont they just ride a board instead of each other?” Sometimes i get a girl student , and that’s much better.

This is a strapless forum. YES , i think straps are gay, and think quite a bit less of a person and their tricks if their handicapped by straps. Its kinda like being Manny on steroids. Dont even get me started about fins. And you might as well be shopping for gerbils if your thinking about buying a twin tip. And youve truly come out of the closet if your riding waves with it. Everything is much harder, cooler and socially acceptable without the taint of feetbelts. If your a homo who is handicapped by straps but just a little bi curious about trying strapless ,then dive right into LTS. Well have you gay bashing in no time…GET with it you homos!!!

There …………now we are starting to look like a REAL “kite” forum!!!

Thank you everyone once again for the progressive attitude and conduct that is so prevalent on this forum.

You might as well leave your windows rolled down, they hopefully wont get waxed ,broken or both. Dont leave anything in the car that you want to be there when you get back and just expect the hookers in the bushes to use it to turn tricks during your session. Its best to barter a rental fee or trade since your obviously riding on the wrong side of the tracks.We get the stink eye as soon as we pull into the parking lot , the others are not in a good mood as the wind has just picked up and yet another lurker is pulling in. Im quick to open up the the van up to reveal only a skim and backpack to show i have nothing else in my van to steal and put the natives at ease since a skim has never been a threat to the little wedgey left that just might break at the end of the very long hike in. With an escort to the beach (partly to make sure we are staying down there, partly to work out the numbers) the john then heads back to open up shop in our scooby van as we set up camp. The wind was light, onshore and ended up dropping after a half an hour ,so we really didnt make much on the percentage fee we had worked out a little earlier. I could have just drove twenty minutes, paid $2, parked my full toy box (unlocked )right in front of my kite, with nice side shore wind and a few dozen other kiters. But we stayed home and i rode myself . Also we made five dollars which paid for a really big cup of fruit . The wind died everywhere anyway. Here is the kinda worthless footy of “thier” spot. i get a lot of hassle surfing this area by the locals and have to watch my back at home , literally, i even get hassled by my landlord/roomate when i get home and its in my rental contract not to EVER paddle to the peak. It said nothing about skimming, though.

As a side comment to tungstens ” attitude” post. really good post!! funny, i am a spoilt lil brat and get a lot of free boards. also i have made many a custom board of all aspects, but have fallen in love with my $ 150 dollar victoria foamy .I dont have any regrets about having to eat a few peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to make up for the cash i didnt have to spend on it. Im really amazed by the customs that the other LTS posters have made.
